LOCATED AT STUDIO 218, IN THE HEART OF TEMPLEOGUE BETWEEN THE VILLAGE AND THE BRIDGE
Sophie Kate Curran is a Dublin based Fine Art Artist and Designer. She has recently completed a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics and Glass at the National College of Art and Design. Intuitively drawn to a use of multiples, she often pursues a thematic of Identity, Memory and Relationships
Sophie’s Entropy and Anfractuous collection explores concepts of fragility and instability. Using innovative ceramic methods she takes the everyday teabag s a metaphor to represent her ideas relating to the entropy of Irish Society and transforms it into a scupltural form. This work is very much reliant on the forms innate to the natural process’s used. Her inspiration comes from Irish Society, organic structures and dendrochronoloy as she explores the idea of preseving the present and creating remains for future. Her most recent work explores a similar theme while explore the Anfractuous nature of Irelands past a narrative which twists and turns will prevent it from regressing in the future.
